If you love yoga and you’d like to learn more about all aspects of the practice, it may seem like the only way to take things further is to sign up for a Teacher Training course. While this can be a wonderful and rewarding learning experience, the time, expense and regulations involved can be a barrier for anyone not interested in teaching. This 50-hour intensive yoga course is designed as an alternative, or as a follow-on study for anyone who has completed a 200-hour YTT.

It is for anyone who wants to give more time to a personal yoga practice and learn more about the science and philosophy behind what yoga is and why it works. All you need is a genuine interest in yoga, whatever your level. You may be a seasoned practitioner, a yoga teacher, or new to the practice. It may be that this course will direct you to a Teacher Training course in the future. Or you may have already completed a Teacher Training course and want to continue your studies and devote more time to your personal practice.

The course will take place on one Sunday a month from October 2021 to April 2022. Sessions will be in person, at Ríonach’s beautiful garden studio in Delgany, County Wicklow. Your course fee will also include my three weekly online classes – Led Ashtanga, Breathe & Meditate and Yin – for the duration of the Exploring Yoga course. These classes are live-streamed and recordings are automatically provided, whether you attend the live-stream or not.

We’ll look at how modern scientific research backs up what the ancient yogis knew: that a regular, integrated yoga practice builds resilience in body and mind. By practising asana, meditation and pranayama we cultivate real inner awareness and with it, the opportunity to enjoy a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life.  You’ll get a better understanding of the ideas behind classical yoga and see how they can be applied to your daily life. The course will help you cultivate a deeper understanding of yourself and the positive impact all aspects of yoga can have on your life.

Each Sunday we meet, either online or in person, we’ll start with Asana (postural)  practice. A Pranayama (breathwork) and Meditation class will follow. Then after a lunch break, we’ll spend the afternoon studying Yoga Theory, Philosophy and Asana technique. The afternoons will also include Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra classes on alternate Sundays. While Yoga Philosophy will be interwoven throughout the course, yoga scholar, Marianne Jacuzzi, will deliver two specific modules on this subject.

The idea is that you will spend a whole day immersed in yoga and leave each Sunday inspired, rejuvenated and relaxed. Over the 7 months, you’ll have time to really invest in your practice. With access to three weekly online classes and the motivation of monthly intensive days with your small group of fellow students, you will find it easier to integrate a regular practice into your daily life and enjoy the lifetime benefits that will follow.

Terms & Conditions for Exploring Yoga

Vaccinated students only. Deposit and further fees are non-refundable and non-transferable (except to another student for the same course). Students must complete all 50 hours of the course to be awarded a 50-hour Exploring Yoga certificate from Ríonach Yoga. Please bring your own mat – Jade Yoga mats are available at my online store (free local delivery). Bolsters, blocks and belts (washed and sanitised after every use) will be provided, but please bring your own Shavasana blanket and eye pillow, if you use one. Thank you.
