(French Module: May 7th – 18th)

Yoga studio in Saint Quentin La Poterie

Purpose-built yoga studio in Saint Quentin La Poterie

If you love yoga and perhaps already understand that the practice is ultimately a journey of self-discovery, then a 200-hour  Yoga Teacher Training can be a profoundly rewarding experience. Maybe you want to teach yoga, or maybe you love what yoga is already doing for you, and you want to understand and learn more. But finding the right Yoga Teacher Training course in Ireland, France or anywhere can be challenging.  This authentic Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training course also includes Yin Yoga Teacher Training modules and  is run by extremely experienced teachers for whom yoga is a way of life. It takes place both in person and online, in a supportive and friendly environment where you will be encouraged to deepen your yoga practice on all levels so that it will nurture and support you throughout your life. Working with a small, dedicated group, you will obtain the professional Yoga Alliance accreditation and the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to start teaching.  However, a desire to teach is not a prerequisite to study. The Yoga Teacher Training course is suitable for anyone interested in a deeper understanding of all aspects of yoga.

The in-person and online Ashtanga & Yin Teacher Training course takes place over four months, offering a 10-day yoga immersion in the South of France and a great degree of flexibility for studying the online portion of the course.  Asana practice, teaching and technique classes will take place over a 10-day period in the beautiful, purpose-built studio in France to facilitate your total commitment to your yoga studies, undisturbed by the routine of daily life. The immersion will also enable a real connection between the group and enhance the learning experience. All anatomy and yoga philosophy classes will take place online, with online modules that you can study in your own time at home, followed by live-stream online follow-up classes where you meet your fellow students and teachers and recap what you have learned.  Only eight places are available, so early application is advised (the Early Bird €1,800 Deadline is November 30th, 2024).

The February 2025 course is now open for application. Please submit your application form (see below) or email any queries to hello@rionachoflynn.com
(Please note: In-person classes can be taught in English and French, but the online modules are in English.)

Timetable

An introductory online morning will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025.  This class will allow you to meet your teachers and fellow students and be introduced to the online modules you will study over the next few months.  These online modules (Yin yoga, yoga anatomy and philosophy ) can be completed in your own time. You will need to complete each assigned module before the live-stream follow-up class (you’ll be offered plenty of time to study before the live-stream class).

10-Day immersion, May 2025  (France)

Practice, teaching theory and technique, and additional meditation, pranayama, and philosophy classes will take place in person at the studio in Saint Quentin La Poterie, South of France, from May 7th to 18th, 2025. If you are flying from Ireland, these days work very well with economical Ryanair flights (as of date of posting).

Graduation

Students will graduate in person in France  with full Yoga Alliance Professionals 200-hour accreditation on the final day of the course, Saturday, May 17th, 2025.

The Location

The yoga studio is located in Saint Quentin La Poterie, a vibrant, picturesque village in southern France near the historic town of Uzés (in the Gard/Provence region, 45 minutes from Nimes and 60 minutes from Montpellier).  The village is famous for its ceramics and was awarded the “Ville et Métiers d’Art” (Arts & Crafts City) honour by the State. Over forty ceramic studios and shops are scattered throughout, and there’s even a ceramics museum, Terra Viva. The beautiful, medieval town of Uzés is 3 kilometres away, with its stunning architecture, views, and a wonderful selection of restaurants, bars, cafés and shops. A typical French Farmer’s Market offering a fabulous selection of local, organic vegetables (and much more!) runs on Tuesdays and Fridays in Saint-Quentin-La-Poterie and on Wednesdays and Saturdays in Uzés.

The studio is a 10-minute walk from the centre of Saint Quentin La Poterie. Designed to maximize natural light and sunshine,  it overlooks a large garden and patio area where students can relax after class and even enjoy a swim in the saltwater pool.

Getting There

Ryanair flights from Dublin to Nimes operate on Wednesdays and Sundays (flights at time of writing convenient for the French module). If necessary, transport from Nimes airport (a 45-minute journey by car) can be arranged.

Accommodation

There is a good range of accommodations within walking distance of the studio, from charming studios in the old potter’s village of Saint Quentin La Poterie to budget camping (tents or chalets) to a higher-end guest house with a pool (which is just a 2-minute walk away). Prices start as low as €50  pp, sharing a studio to €100 per night for a private, ensuite room in the guest house (available for one person or two people sharing).  One on-site pool-side studio (double bed, kitchenette, and bathroom) is available for students to rent. Please email hello@rionacholynn.com to clarify your accommodation requirements if you would like some suggestions.

200-hour Teacher Training

About The Course

If you love yoga and perhaps already understand that the practice is ultimately a journey of self-discovery, then a 200-hour  Yoga Teacher Training can be a profoundly rewarding experience. Maybe you want to teach yoga, or maybe you love what yoga is already doing for you, and you want to understand and learn more. But finding the right Yoga Teacher Training course in Ireland, France or anywhere can be challenging.  This authentic Yoga Teacher Training course is run by extremely experienced teachers for whom yoga is a way of life. It takes place in a supportive and friendly environment where you will be encouraged to deepen your yoga practice on all levels so that it will nurture and support you throughout your life. Working with a small, dedicated group, you will obtain the  Yoga Alliance Professionals accreditation and the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to start teaching.  However, a desire to teach is not a prerequisite to study, and many have taken this course in the past who have no intention of teaching but want to deepen their personal relationship with yoga.  The course is suitable for anyone interested in a wider understanding of all aspects of yoga.

Yoga Fundamentals & Asana Teaching Techniques

One of the main goals of this 200-hour yoga teacher training course will be to help you establish your own regular self-practice (if you don’t already have one) and integrate this into your life.  Yoga is so much more than a postural practice, and we will explore this idea in full, emphasising meditation, pranayama (yogic breathing), and asana (poses). You will learn how to teach the Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga sequence, exploring how and why to modify it to accommodate the individual student, whatever their body type or stage of life. You will also study Yin Yoga and learn how to teach this slower-paced style of yoga, which is a wonderful complement to a dynamic practice. The principles of observation, alignment, communication with and support for your student at all times will be highlighted throughout your yoga teacher training.

Meditation & Pranayama

Nowadays, everyone knows that regular meditation brings clarity and calm to your life.  Putting it into practice, however, can be easier said than done.  This yoga teacher training course will teach you the simple, invaluable techniques that will help you to make meditation part of your daily life.  If you already have a practice, you will be taught how to deepen it.   By the end of the yoga teacher training course, you will understand how yoga, meditation and pranayama practice positively impact your entire being and your daily relationship with the world around you.

Yoga Philosophy

This is a vast and sometimes complex subject you could study for a lifetime. In this course, you’ll be introduced to the classical texts, the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita in an accessible, enjoyable way. We will explore how the practice and philosophy of yoga can enable us to live a healthier, happier, and more purposeful life. We will also look at the history of modern yoga from the time of Krishnamacharya and see how the various styles of yoga now practised in the West evolved from his teachings.

Yoga Anatomy

When you understand the underlying parts and pieces of anatomy as they relate to a yoga practice, you are better equipped to find the answer to a specific problem for a student (or, indeed, yourself). This helps you to be a better teacher, working with the students as they are in the moment in the body they inhabit. On this course, you will enjoy accessible and understandable explanations of how anatomy and yoga are related so you can apply them to your teaching.

The Ethics & Business of Teaching

You will learn about the practical and ethical aspects of being an authentic teacher in today’s busy yoga environment.

This module will include:

  • How do you develop your teaching presence and be comfortable and confident in your teaching?
  • Directions for ongoing study to maintain your personal practice and teaching standards.
  • Ethical guidelines for teachers.
  • The business of Yoga

Expert Tuition

While I place great value on the student/teacher relationship and stay true to the methodology of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, I encourage my students to discover how their own yoga practice can be their best teacher. The environment and teaching philosophy are inclusive, compassionate, adaptive, and non-dogmatic.

What Students Say

“Ríonach is a fantastic teacher with a ton of experience and knowledge, and I learned so much from her during my 200-hour teacher training. I loved the intimate group size, the beautiful studio, the hands-on approach and the focus on building an Ashtanga self-practice. I’d highly recommend Ríonach’s training to anyone who is looking to immerse themselves in Ashtanga yoga, and to anyone who is interested in becoming a teacher.”

Eamonn O’Neill, 200-hour YTT, Summer 2023

“I completed my 200 hour YTT with Ríonach in Spring 2022 and it was such an amazing experience. Ríonach welcomes you into her studio and from Day 1 passes on her vast yoga experience with grace and passion. Her experience and warmth totally exceeded my expectations and I felt very privileged to be part of this new sangha. If you are thinking about Yoga Teacher training or weekly classes, I would highly recommend Ríonach. “

Fiona Molloy, 200-hour YTT, Feb – May, 2022.

“The yoga teacher training course with Ríonach was fantastic on many levels. Learning about the history and philosophy has given me a much deeper understanding of what yoga is all about, which has brought a new dimension to my own practice. On a practical level, the course gave me both the tools and confidence to teach a class, which I couldn’t have imagined doing when I first signed up. Ríonach is a wonderful teacher who shared with us her knowledge, experience and passion for yoga, which made the course very special. She knows her stuff and is more than happy to share it

Susan Elliott, 200-hour YTT, Feb – May, 2019
